Leticia started her career as a theatre director in Ireland. She now focuses on writing and directing live-action. The malleability of identity, especially national and cultural, and the tragicomedy of human interaction is where is at for her.

Leticia’s life and career have taken her from Spain to Ireland and from theatre to film. First studying drama and theatre directing in the UK, she moved to Dublin to co-found a theatre company, directing several stage plays with actors and puppets. She returned to education to study film and fulfil and long-life inclination to telling stories visually.

She then founded Whackala with Paul McGrath, where she has directed award-winning short and long-form documentaries. She’s focusing on writing and directing live-action since 2015. Presently, she’s developing the social satire feature ‘My Refugee’ with producer Julie Ryan (MK1 Productions), which received a second round of development funding from Screen Ireland. She has won awards for her short film ‘Refuge’, and won the Ronan Phelan Script and Pitch Award with her short script ‘My Friend Jess’.

She was granted an Arts Council of Ireland Covid 19 Award in 2020, with which she wrote and directed ‘Remote’, an online anthology of short films about conflict between loved ones—her favourite subject.

She’s also a member of the Writers Guild of Ireland, Women in Film & Television Ireland, and of Screen Producers Ireland with Whackala. Also an educator, she leads and lectures at the BA year in Film & TV Production at Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education in coordination with the University of Wolverhampton in the UK.
