'Garage' was the latest new Irish feature film to screen at Denzille Lane Cinema in the SDGI Directors Club series. The screening of this award winning film, which took place on October 3rd prior to going on general release in Ireland on October 5th is director Lenny Abrahamsons second feature film.
A large and enthusiastic group of directors attended the screening with Lenny being on hand to answer the many and varied questions from the floor after the credits rolled.
Refreshments on the night were kindly provided by Directors Club sponsor Jameson.

The 6th International Meeting of the English Speaking Directors’ Organisations IAESDO took place from 6 – 7th September 2007 in London.
The meeting was attended by presentatives from the following organizations Australian Screen Directors Association, BECTU,
Directors Guild of America, Directors Guild of Canada, Directors Producers Rights Society, Screen Directors Guild of Ireland and Screen Directors Guild New Zealand.
Each Country gave a short report on their most pressing issues and key agendas for the future. Common experiences raised for directors included, new member recruitment and the role of the director eroding in new media.
Arash Amel gave a presentation on the the future of downloading entertainment and predicted that the DVD will be around for longer then predicted, 2011. Arash also pointed out that the devices will be central to the way in which content is consumed and that content will be secondary to this. Arash predicted that that Home Film Entertainment will fragment but crucially it will still grow.
Other speakers included Cecile Despringe of FERA who gave a presentation on the issues FERA were tackling including issues with the European Parliament,Cultural Diversity and connecting directors throughout Europe, Anna Cahill of SDGNZ who gave update on their Copyright Campagins and Arden Rysphan of the DGC who chaired a discussion on the topic of Role of the Director Across Genres
Tom Collin's bi-lingual Irish feature film 'Kings' has been announced the winner of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland Directors Finders Series.
As the winner of the Directors Finders Series, ‘Kings’ will be screened at the SDG of America’s theatre in LA to an audience of American distributors, with a view to securing a US distribution deal for the film.
Starring Colm Meaney, Donal O’Kelly and Brendan Conroy, ‘Kings’ follows the story of a group of six young men who leave their homes in the West of Ireland in the mid 70’s to go to England in the hope of making their fortunes before returning home thirty years later for the funeral of a friend.
Collins will be officially announced the winner of the Finders Series at an event in Dublin later this month which will be attended by filmmakers Jim Sheridan and John Carney and John Fletcher of Pathe UK, who will be taking part in a Q&A session on distribution/industry issues on the night.
'Small Engine Repair' and 'Pavee Lackeen' are previous winners of the Finders Series.
