Biography

Barry has worked as a member of the production management team at Warner Bros. Feature Animation in Los Angeles on Brad Birds The Iron Giant and Adam Sandlers Eight Crazy Nights and also as a character animator on the feature Osmosis Jones directed by the Farrelly Brothers and Joseph Barbera's Tom Jerry short The Karate Guard.

In 2002 he returned to Ireland and founded Barley Films. To date the animation studio has produced nine animated shorts that have been widely screened at film festivals around the world winning several international awards along the way.

Since 2004 over fifty animation students have participated in the studios character animation training programmes. Barry has also lectured in animation principles and animation production as part of the Animation Degree course at IADT in Dun Laoghaire.

Over the past four years he has also organised in-depth training opportunities for several artists working at the studio with senior animation professionals working in California at the major animation studios such as Pixar, Walt Disney Studios, Dreamworks SKG, Sony Pictures and July Films.

Barry has worked as a production consultant on the Oscar nominated animated feature film The Secret of Kells for Irish animation studio The Cartoon Saloon. He is also currently the Irish Executive Producer on the animated TV special Miss Remarkable and Her Career- a co-production between Irish animation studio A Man and Ink, Lisbet Gabrielsson Film (Sweden) and Bullitt Film (Denmark)

He is presently preparing to direct theanimated feature film Little Caribou at the Barley Films studioin Ireland later this year.
