Welcome
Welcome to the SDGI Website, an invaluable resource to both members and the industry as a whole. The site contains members details, biogs and professional credits and acts as a ‘one stop shop’ providing information, advice and industry news while also keeping visitors up to date on the progress of SDGI’s campaigns, projects and events.
The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland exists to assert the creative and economic rights of Irish Screen Directors both nationally and internationally. In its first five years, SDGI has firmly re-established the voice of the Director in the creative and cultural world of film and television in this country. This covers Directors of drama, documentary and animation.
Directors are primarily storytellers using a language specific to ourselves and audiovisual media, a complex, artistic, crafted, emotional and technical language. Directors are at the core of the process, working with writers, producers, actors, designers and directors of photography to communicate with the hearts and minds of the audience. Some of us have our own stories to tell and are driven by an artistic passion.
Please explore this website to keep yourself updated on our continuing campaigns in relation to Director’s contracts, our legal advice and negotiation service, inclusion of Directors in the artist tax exemption scheme and our own revenue collection society for Directors.
Best Regards
Ciaran Donnelly (Guild Chairman)
